Pygopllites diacanthus - This is one of the most spectacular of all reef fishes, sporting alternating yellow and white bars with blue borders, a yellow tail and pelvic fins and the yellow chests. Despite it being a difficult fish, it is one of the most popular angels, and usually a safe bet in reef aquariums. Generally regarded as reef safe, most of those we sell go into reefs. Attempt this fish only in an aquarium containing live rock. In a bare "fish tank" with nothing to graze on, regal angels seldom adapt, but in reefs or with live rock they generally fare notably better. Keep only with other peaceful fishes and do not house with bold species of angels. This fish will not adapt if it perceives any threats from tankmates. Minimum 75 gallon tank required, but preferably larger. The most difficult part of keeping regal angels is getting them to eat frozen foods. WE ONLY SELL REGALS THAT ARE ALREADY EATING IN OUR TANKS, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY! ***due to their delicate nature, regal angels are covered by our live arrival guarantee only, not 14 day***

A famously difficult fish to get eating in captivity. Came in very well packaged (triple bagged in heavy duty bags), took to eating for me in observation very quickly.
I would QT/condition any fish, from any retailer, as a matter of course, it’s a risk to do otherwise, no matter who you buy from.
Prices are decent at NYA normally, the live sales are absolutely awesome deals. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from NYA again.
Beautiful fish. Arrived alive and completed transfer into QT. Never showed much interest in eating and unfortunately succumbed to Uronema after 2 days in quarantine. Despite no 14 day guarantee on this fish, Michael was a straight up guy and gave me a 50% credit. Regal Angelfish can be a challenge. I will give another one a try in the near future, maybe one a bit larger than this one.
