Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) make a great addition to your reef or non-aggressive fish-only tank.  Like most anthias, they will only thrive if kept in a group of 3 or more.  Ideally, one should keep 1 male and 2 or more females.  If one keeps only females, the dominant one will change to male.

Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) are found in reefs throughout the world.  The most common ones come from Bali and the Philippines, but they are also found in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Red Sea; the latter being the most expensive.

Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) females tend to stay around 3 inches, with males growing larger, 4-5 inches.  Males can be identified by the dark pink spot on their pectoral fins.  A trio of Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) require a minimum 75 gallon tank.  Larger groups can be kept in larger tanks.

Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) are one of the hardier anthias, but still not to be considered a beginner fish.  A mature system, ideally with live rock, is best for them.

Given their fast metabolism, Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squampinnis) should ideally be fed a few small meals a day.  A variety of flakes, pellets, and small meaty items (mysis) should be offered.
