Naso brachycentron – Humpback Unicornfish

The Humpback Unicornfish (Naso brachycentron) is one of the most impressive members of the surgeonfish family. Instantly recognizable by its tall, pronounced dorsal hump and elongated unicorn-like rostrum (in adults), this species makes a dramatic centerpiece in large marine aquariums. Its sleek silver-to-brown body is highlighted by subtle blue and yellow accents, giving it a refined yet commanding presence.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, this species thrives in spacious aquariums with strong currents and ample swimming room. Like other unicorn tangs, it is a dedicated herbivore, grazing constantly and helping to control nuisance algae. A diet rich in marine-based algae, nori, and herbivore preparations will keep this fish healthy and vibrant.
